Prince Manufacturing Expands
North American Operations in Mexico
JUAREZ, MEXICO (May 15, 2006) Prince Manufacturing
announced the opening of a new manufacturing facility
in Juarez, Mexico, on May 2, 2006. The announcement marks
Prince Manufacturing’s second major expansion this
month, following the company’s opening of a new
facility in Garrett, Indiana.
Prince Manufacturing, a leader in contract manufacturing,
is a key strategic outsource in the metals and composite
materials industries, offering a range of diverse services
including design, metal stamping and forming, assembly
services, liquid and powder coatings, and more.
The new facility, which covers more than 57,000 square
feet, provides the company with increased agility to
meet the ever-growing demands of its customer base throughout
North America. The addition enhances Prince’s
capabilities to offer a complete range of strategic
outsource manufacturing services all under one roof.
The new facility focuses on technical and electrical-mechanical
assembly.
The opportunity to open the new Juarez facility presented
a win-win scenario for Prince Manufacturing and one
of its client partners, according to President and CEO
Bernie Talwin. “One of our customers, a brand
that’s a well-known household name around the
world, originally opened a manufacturing facility on
the site. But changes in the global economy meant that
it just didn’t make good economic sense to continue
operating the plant. It made much more sense for them
to focus on core competencies and outsource the work
that was done at that facility to a company like Prince
Manufacturing. We were able to forge a long-term strategic
relationship with them. We’re always looking for
ways to grow while offering a big win to our customers.”
In addition to the opportunity to be a strategic partner,
Prince Manufacturing recognized a chance to expand its
own capabilities. “At the same time, we were looking
to expand,” Talwin added. “We always are
when we can be a better strategic partner and better
meet the needs of our customers. Rather than closing
the facility, we were able to take over operations.
It made a lot of sense for everyone concerned. We were
able to increase our capacity to better align with our
customers’ strategies, and they were able to improve
the efficiency of their own operations.”
As with the company’s new facility in Garrett,
Indiana, the Juarez facility asserts Prince Manufacturing’s
commitment to local communities. “Had the facility
closed, a number of workers could have lost their jobs,”
said Aurelio Acosta, General Manager of Prince Manufacturing’s
Southwest and Latin America operations. “Instead,
just about all of those employees are now building long-term
careers with us. We’re tremendously happy about
that. We feel it is critical to support the local economies
everywhere we do business—in the United States
as well as Mexico and, ultimately, around the world.
In the end, everyone will benefit.”
Once the idea was proposed, the deal came together
quickly. “Everyone recognized the benefits at
once,” Talwin explained. “We were able to
negotiate, close the deal, and begin operations within
three months. We think that’s pretty impressive.
It just goes to show what can happen in a situation
where everybody wins.”
